The BDR-UD04 reads 4K discs within 2 to 3 seconds, eliminating the common inconvenience of extended seeking noises experienced with other desktop drives, such as those from Hitachi or ASUS. 4K Playback Considerations: While direct "plug-and-play" 4K disc playback on your computer is not guaranteed, this model and firmware will reliably read your 4K disc, provided they are clean and free from issues like fingerprints or damage.

For versatile functionality, such as backing up, burning, or copying your movie collection, additional software (not included) may be required. To ensure smooth 4K playback, your computer must have compatible hardware, including a 4K-capable motherboard, monitor, and components. Please note that the optical drive is just one part of the overall solution. We have successfully tested playback on some of our operating systems using VLC. However, for optimal results, we strongly recommend processing the 4K disc using third-party software like MakeMKV to create a file or ISO container better suited for playback on your device. After testing, the drive is securely and expertly packaged, guaranteeing it reaches you in pristine condition.
